Today on Good Morning Britain, there was heated discussion surrounding the topic of unlawful dress codes. Sparking controversy across the country, women are taking a stand for better gender equality in the workplace through a petition started by Nicola Thorp. The receptionist was sent home from work for refusing to wear high heels – she has now gained over 150,000 signatures in support of her cause.
We asked Charlotte Gent, our compliance and Training Manager at the Industria head office in Leicester about what she thought on the topic:
“As long as you’re suitably and professionally dressed for the job you’re doing, you shouldn’t be made to wear anything that isn’t needed. Our company policy puts emphasis on maintaining a professional appearance regardless of gender.”
