Well done to our Industria Hinckley branch for signing Industria up to take part in the annual Hinckley BID Town Centre Event - Pancake race day!
The race team arrived at 11am in the Hinckley branch on Pancake Day!
All contestants needed to bring their own pans and the pancakes would be provided.
Early on Kim realised that bringing her cast iron 20 inch pan was not practical for the event so made a quick practice sprint to B&M to get a small light tefal pan!
Matt had his shorts and backpack on – I think he was expecting a marathon not a 200metre fun race!
Jess and Gemma were very laid back and even enjoyed a Greggs breakfast before the race.
The final member of the team – Andy – arrived in true McKenna style looking as fit as a fiddle! He meant business!
The team headed to the starting point and had the stark realisation of what on earth were they doing! The street was packed with spectators and the races were underway.
The Industria team took to the start line. Matt briefed out that the team should run together as a team, but there was a little glisten in Andy’s eye!
The horn sounded the team were off – Matt took the lead, the first flip point and Matt drops his pancake! Andy at this point has sprinted past the first flip point and was well on his way to the second flip point. Gemma and Kim were tussling with each other to get to the first flip point and they were pretty level. Jess was very slow off the mark and at the first flip point spotted Andy at the second flip point. Second flip point sees Jess and Matt level heading, Andy completes the race 1st, managing a backwards pancake flip at the finish line, Gemma has a Usain Bolt of energy and comes in 2nd, Kim makes a 3rd place with Matt and Jess finishing 4th and 5th!
